Syllables and Rhyming Game
A free phonological awareness game for young readers. In “Count the syllables” students see a picture word, hear it, clap it out and choose 1 to 4 syllables. In “Find the rhyme” they choose the word that rhymes.
Every word is read aloud, and each answer shows the word broken into syllables, like but-ter-fly.
How to use it in class
- Pick a mode. Count the syllables, or find the rhyme.
- Listen. Each word is read aloud; tap “Hear it” to hear it again.
- Clap it out. Clap once for each part of the word, then choose.
- See the parts. The answer shows the syllables split up.
