Australia States and Territories Quiz
A free map quiz for Australia’s 6 states and 2 mainland territories: New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory.
With eight to find it’s a quick quiz, good as a warm-up or for younger students. The tiny Australian Capital Territory has a dot to tap, and “NSW”, “NT” and “ACT” are accepted when typing.
How to use it in class
- Pick a mode. Classic names a state or territory and students tap it. Hard asks them to type all eight from memory. Explore has no score.
- Play Classic. Each one turns green on the first try, yellow on the second and orange on the third. After three misses it flashes red and has to be tapped before moving on.
- Learn the abbreviations. Each state shows its short name (NSW, QLD, WA…) on the map once it’s found.
- Print a map. The printable maps page has a blank Australia map and one labeled with the state abbreviations.
- Share a challenge. At the end, “Challenge a friend” makes a link with the score for someone else to beat.
