Math manipulatives Fraction Strips

Virtual Fraction Strips

A virtual fraction wall for the classroom. Strips from one whole down to twelfths are stacked so students can see how the pieces compare – tap pieces to shade them.

Drag the guide line across the wall: wherever pieces line up, it shows the equivalent fractions, like 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8 = 6/12. Labels can show fractions, decimals or percents.

How to use it in class

  1. Choose the strips. Turn strips on or off – halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths and twelfths.
  2. Shade pieces. Tap pieces to shade them, for example 3/4 and 6/8.
  3. Find equal fractions. Drag the guide line; it snaps to piece edges and lists every fraction that ends there.
  4. Change the labels. Show fractions, decimals, percents, or blank pieces.
