Reading & word games Hangman (Balloon Pop)

Hangman Game for the Classroom

The classic word-guessing game, made kid-friendly: instead of drawing a figure, each wrong letter pops one of six balloons. Guess the word before all the balloons are gone.

Play with ready-made vocabulary themes (with a clue for each word), your own word list, or a secret word the teacher types in. The big on-screen keyboard works well on a smartboard.

How to use it in class

  1. Pick the words. Choose a theme, “My list” to type your own words, or “Teacher’s secret word” to type a word students can’t see.
  2. Guess letters. Students tap letters on the big keyboard (or type them). Right letters fill in; wrong letters pop a balloon.
  3. Use the clue. Each themed word has a clue, which you can turn off for a harder game.
  4. Next word. Tap “Next word” to keep playing. The score shows how many words the class has solved.
